Menu showcases a new selection of cocktails based on Ernest Hemingway’s favorite libations
July 12th, 2020
Following a successful debut in May 2019, The Old Man Singapore (the local offshoot of its celebrated Hong Kong namesake bar) has collected considerable industry acclaim in its own right including a ranking among Asia’s 50 Best Bars in 2020. Recently the bar team has launched their new “The Best of The Old Man v2” cocktail menu – further underscoring their impressive craft cocktail credentials. The new menu incorporates both popular cocktails from the original menu – and new creations – taking further inspiration from the favored cocktails of the legendary author – and drinker – Ernest Hemingway.
New cocktails take their names from various literary works of Hemingway – including The Torrents of Spring ($150 for 500ml bottle), inspired by Hemingway’s 1926 novel, featuring a flavourful combination of glutinous rice cooked mezcal, grain Wild Turkey whiskey, amaro nonino, Campari, pom-beet shrub and charcoal; and the For Whom The Bell Tolls, named after Hemingway’s 1940 novel, a pleasing mix of cocoa nibs sous-vide Batavia arrack, sour strawberry, rotovap burnt butter Appleton rum and avocado burst.
The Old Man Specials menu also offers a selection of cocktails that are exclusive to Singapore including the Kopi Break – mixed with Appleton rum, robusta coffee, chocolate, and oleo Saccharum; Wake & Lake, made with Lake Bartezek vodka, tamarind, gula melaka, saline, and lime; and Through The Grapevine- combining Remy Martin VSOP, sweet vermouth, maraschino, and orange bitters.
At the recently reopened bar appropriate measures have been implemented to comply with best practices for social distancing and customers’ wellbeing – while there is also the option of purchasing selected cocktails in 500ml bottles – for home delivery or on-site takeaway.
Current operating hours at The Old Man Singapore are Monday – Saturday from 5 pm – with last drink orders before 10 pm weekdays and 9:45 pm on weekends.
