Refreshed cocktail menu of classic, bespoke, and reserve concoctions inspired by Raffles new Writer In Residence

Following the relaunch of the Writers Bar at Raffles Hotel Singapore in late 2019, the bar has recently introduced a refreshed cocktail program – inspired by the “The Raffles Affair”, a murder mystery set in Raffles Hotel Singapore by the latest Writer-in-Residence, Vicki Virtue, a seasoned travel writer who has journeyed to over fifty countries and an aspiring New Zealander author. Newly appointed Head Bartender Nicholas Alexander has created a new menu of cocktails including artisanal 1915 Raffles Gin cocktails and a special selection of handcrafted classic cocktails alongside new curated Gourmet Collection bar snacks served in the sophisticated lobby bar.
A series of new handcrafted cocktails based on the various mysterious and colourful characters featured in the novel “The Raffles Affair”, a murder mystery set in Raffles Hotel Singapore by the latest Writer-in-Residence. Highlights include the Agent Provocateur, a sophisticated and exquisitely blended cocktail made with Blandy’s 5 Year Bual Madeira, El Dorado 12, Concord Grenadine, lemon and mint; and the bright and beautiful Femme Fatale, a cocktail personifying the glamorous bride, Peyton Latchmore, made with Raffles exclusive Champagne Billecart-Salmon Brut Reserve NV “An Iconic Return”, flowers, apple brandy, and Cocchi Rosa.
1915 Raffles Gin cocktails are concocted with Raffles 1915 Gin – an exclusive collaboration with Sipsmith that features a blend of botanicals found in Asia – including jasmine flowers, fresh pomelo peel, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaf, nutmeg, and cardamom – distilled alongside classic gin botanicals. Best enjoyed through variations of the quintessential gin & tonic (S$28++), or take a sip of the classic Million Dollar Cocktail (S$28++), originally concocted by the early 19th century Raffles bartender Ngiam Tong Boon (who also created the Singapore Sling), with pineapples, sweet Vermouth, grenadine, gum arabic, lemon, egg white, and Angostura bitters – mixed with 1915 Raffles Gin.
The Writers Bar currently opens Wednesday to Sunday from 4:00 pm to 10:30 pm.
