Glamorous bar introduces signature cocktail menu inspired by the history of the heritage building

Following a post-pandemic interior refresh, The Bar at The House on Sathorn introduced in August a totally new collection of signature cocktails in a menu inspired by significant periods throughout the history of the landmark 133-year-old mansion.

Since its 2015 launch, The House on Sathorn has become one of Bangkok’s most distinctive food and drink venues. Set within the refurbished heritage-listed neo-classical mansion directly adjacent to the W Bangkok hotel tower, the expansive building and courtyard encompass the signature modern Thai seafood restaurant Paii, destination bar The Bar, plus additional hospitality spaces including Upstairs, The Conservatory, Hospitality Suites, and The Loft.

From light and subtle, to bold and elegant, the informative illustrated menu created by Bar Manager Francesco Moretti features 20 signature cocktails and mocktails across four periods in the history of The House on Sathorn. Inspired by the significant phases of the mansion’s long history, the signature cocktail menu includes four sections that express the influences and vibes of each period. Individual cocktails are served in custom-crafted and sourced glassware that elegantly harmonise with each period theme.

The Present Nostalgic hint and contemporary feel harmoniously collide as the drinks in this section laud the present-day residence in its full glory, sitting among towering modern buildings in the city’s most thriving commercial district.

Embassy Row With Sathorn Road as Bangkok’s preferred address for a number of foreign embassies, The Bar gives a nod to the world of diplomacy by crafting cocktails reminiscent of intriguing international affairs.

Hotel Royal Italian ingredients and glamorous visuals are key elements of the drinks in the section that pay tribute to the time in 1920s, when an Italian lady named Madame A. Staro took over the residence and transformed it into the ultra-luxury Hotel Royal.

The History of Sathorn To honour the legacy of the original owner of the house, Luang Sathorn Rajayukta, a Chinese businessman turned royal elite who constructed the Sathorn canal during the reign of King Rama V, the drinks are crafted with subtle Thai and Chinese flairs.

Light bar snacks, crafted at Paii and served exclusively at The Bar, can also be paired with cocktail suggestions from all four menu sections.

Open from 2:30 pm to midnight Wednesday to Sunday, guests can enjoy exuberant 1920s swing and upbeat sounds throughout the night, with live DJs every Thursday – Saturday from 8.30 pm till late.
